Assembly

On this page is a set up guide for the construction of the PrestoShed®. The procedure should take about 3-5 hours to complete.

Frame foundations

Step 1

A solid shed foundation ensures stability and longevity. Choose a level area free from debris. Common types include concrete slabs, gravel beds, and treated wooden beams, each offering various durability and drainage levels. Concrete offers the most stability, while gravel aids drainage. Ensure the foundation is level and secure to prevent shifting or settling, protecting the shed from moisture damage and structural issues.

Erect trusses

Step 2

Erecting shed trusses is vital for structural integrity. Position trusses 24 inches apart for even roof support. Use temporary braces to hold them while securing with screws or nails. Ensure all trusses are level and aligned for proper roof installation and durability. Regularly check for plumb and square, making adjustments before final attachment. This careful approach enhances your shed's longevity and performance.

Secure frame

Step 3

Securing a shed frame to a foundation is vital for its long-term integrity. Align the frame with the foundation, ensuring all edges are flush. Anchor the frame with brackets or metal straps to prevent movement during bad weather. For concrete foundations, drill and use concrete anchors. For gravel or treated wood, use lag bolts or heavy-duty screws. This enhances stability and protects against moisture, extending your shed’s lifespan. Periodically check the connections to maintain strength.

Check level

Step 4

When building a shed, check the frame's level regularly. Use a level to ensure trusses are aligned for structural integrity, placing them 24 inches apart for uniform roof support. Use temporary braces to stabilize trusses during attachment with screws or nails. Verify that trusses are plumb and square to prevent installation issues. Adjusting while trusses are movable enhances your shed's durability and performance. Attention to detail is crucial for a long-lasting structure.

Check squares

Step 5

Check the new shed installation is square: ensure the brackets are anchored properly into the concrete slab to provide stability. If using a wooden foundation, position the brackets at each corner and along the sides for enhanced support. After securing, double-check the squareness by measuring the diagonals again. Make any necessary adjustments before finalizing the installation. This meticulous attention to detail will help ensure your shed remains structurally sound and functional for many years to come.

Roof on

Step 6

When installing your shed's roof, regularly check the frame's level. This ensures trusses align, supporting the structural integrity. Space trusses apart for uniform support. Use temporary braces to secure trusses while attaching them with screws or nails, allowing for adjustments to keep them plumb and square. Verifying their positioning is crucial in avoiding future issues. Adjusting while they are moveable is key to a durable, high-performing shed. Attention to detail during this phase enhances your structure's longevity.

Roof cladding

Step 7

Choosing the right roof cladding for your shed is essential for longevity and functionality. Consider durability, weather resistance, and aesthetics. Ensure the installation is square by properly anchoring brackets into the concrete slab for stability. For a wooden foundation, place brackets at corners and sides for extra support. Double-check squareness by measuring diagonals and make adjustments as needed. This careful setup enhances structural integrity and longevity, safeguarding your investment and maintaining a functional, attractive shed for years.

Shed complete

Step 8

Maintenance of your new shed is crucial for its longevity and performance. Regular inspections and upkeep will help ensure that it remains a reliable space for years to come. Adhering to a maintenance schedule and addressing potential issues early on, you can significantly enhance the durability and reliability of your shed, ensuring it serves its purpose effectively for many years to come.
